Shands Cancer Hospital has recently purchased two of artist Sue Johnson's paintings from her "Survivor Series" for their permanent collection.
The paintings feature Mamasita, an elderly Paso Fino mare found starving and neglected and Sweet Pea Slew, a beautiful Thoroughbred who was hit by a car and seriously injured when she and her starving companions pushed through their fences in order to find a place to graze.
The paintings hang in the sixth
floor family waiting area along with the stories of the how the horses came to
Windhorse Sanctuary.
