11 Paso Fino Horses Rescued in Miami

A group of 11 Paso Fino horses were rescued by South Florida SPCA in Miami.

They were starving and neglected. Not all survived.

Four of these horses came to Windhorse Sanctuary for rehabilitation, and four others were placed in adoptive homes in the Ocala area with friends of the Sanctuary. Sharon and daughter, Karen, have adopted a mare and baby, and their neighbor, Audrey, also adopted a mare and baby.

The worst of the lot was Gloria, a 25 year old mare who was literally skin and bones. Not expected to survive, much less thrive, she arrived at the sanctuary so weak she could barely walk off the trailer. The driver from Brook Ledge transport had tears in his eyes as he led her down the ramp.

Now two months later she has gained 200 pounds and has started galloping madly around the pasture, bucking and playing like a young filly. Check out the story of Gloria and the rest of her companions on our Pet Stories link
